| Police cook up treat for the Chef | Giza Police have routed a dangerous gang in Atfeeh city in a ferocious gun battle. Detectives had been tipped off that the gang were responsible for a number of armed robberies in the city of Atfeeh, terrorising local people and also peddling drugs. Police surrounded their hideout and the thugs opened fire. Officers returned fire, killing three of the thugs and injuring two more, while a full colonel of police stopped a bullet in the right thigh. Meanwhile, the gang leader, Abdel-Basset (aka el-Tabbakh [the Chef]) escaped in a pick-up truck with a large quantity of bango and hasheesh. Officers soon caught up with him and also found in his possession four automatic weapons and 500 rounds of ammunition. The matter is being investigated by the el-Saff and Atfeeh Prosecutor. The Chef is in custody, while the two wounded thugs are under police guard in hospital.
