| Libyan donations for victims | Libya will contribute to an Egyptian fund established to provide compensation for the families of the victims in the tragedy involving the ferry Al Salam 98, which sank on Friday in the Red Sea with 1,414 passengers and crew on board. This statement, reported by the Middle East News Agency (MENA), was made by Ahmed Gaddaf el-Dam, co-ordinator of Egyptian-Libyan ties, after a meeting with President Hosni Mubarak. The Libyan official, in statements after the meeting, added that he had delivered a message from the Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi to President Mubarak, expressing his condolences over the tragedy.
He also said that Tripoli has been closely following developments in the tragedy, which occurred in the early hours of Friday morning.
"We are in continual contact with the Egyptian side," stressed el-Dam, adding that the size of Libya's contribution will soon be disclosed
